The waterfall is the highest waterfall in the Adjara region (30m). It will be interesting for a tourist to visit there regardless of the season. The first mention of the fortress of Gonio occurs in the 2nd century AD, it was a well fortified Roman city in Colchis. Later it fell under the influence of Byzantium. In 1547 Gonio became part of the Ottoman Empire, this lasted until 1878, The city was also famous for its theater and hippodrome. It is currently experiencing a tourist boom. Many tourists in the summer months use beaches that are considered more environmentally friendly than the beaches near Batumi.
